Retro Bloom: Josephine Barrault’s Take on Flower Power

Halo Dish Covers is all about blending creativity with sustainability, and our latest collection, Retro Bloom, is no exception. Designed by Josephine Barrault, this theme is a vibrant nod to the free-spirited energy of the seventies.

“I wanted to represent the theme Retro Bloom in a way that captures the optimism of the era,” says Josephine. “When one thinks of the seventies, they think of the hippies who dreamed of peace, love, and changing the world. Flower Power is a key symbol of that movement—expressed through nature and floral designs that bring peace and joy.”

When she was studying graphic design at Vega in Cape Town, Josephine developed an eye for color and movement, which shines through in this collection. Her bold bright florals evoke a sense of nostalgia while remaining fresh and modern—perfect for brightening up your kitchen and table settings.

Josephine’s love for nature and creativity fuels her design process. “Being outdoors is my thing,” she shares. “I love surfing, dancing, and spending the day with a good book. My work often reflects that balance between movement and stillness, vibrancy and calm.”
